Flow in a pipe with a sudden expansion


The laminar flow of an incompressible fluid in a pipe with a sudden expansion exhibits surprisingly complex behaviour that is not yet fully understood. This talk will describe recent developments in numerical methods for stability and bifurcation calculations and describe their application to the pipe problem.
