Spectral accuracy and conformal maps

Numerical computation is full of functions with localized regions of rapid variation. How can we represent them efficiently to high accuracy? A beautiful method turns out to be Chebyshev or Fourier grids transformed by elementary conformal maps. This approach is powerful in practice and easily justified by theorems. Part of this work is joint with Nick Hale and Wynn Tee.
